Certain foods like berries, beans, nuts, fish, and fermented foods are packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and fibre. These can all help your body fight off cancer.
According to Dr. Nguyen Anh Duy Tung from Nutri home Nutrition Center, eating a diet rich in these foods not only improves your overall health but also helps manage diseases and lowers your cancer risk.
Here are some food groups that may help prevent cancer:
Berries
Berries such as blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are full of vitamins, fibre, and strong antioxidants like anthocyanins, ellagic acid, and resveratrol compounds help lower inflammation, protect your DNA from damage, and contribute to preventing cancer.
Cruciferous Vegetables
Vegetables such as (broccoli, cauliflower, Bok choy, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts) contain a powerful anti-cancer compound called indole-3-carbinol. Eating these vegetables regularly can lower your risk of several cancers and help your body recover after chemotherapy.
Omega-3-Rich Fish
Fish such as (salmon, tuna, and mackerel are rich in omega-3 fatty acids) which reduce inflammation, and also help protect your body from breast and colon cancer. They are also excellent sources of high-quality protein, which helps cells regrow and supports overall health.
Nuts and Seeds
Nuts and seeds, including walnuts, almonds, chia seeds, and flaxseeds, are packed with fibre, healthy fats, and antioxidants, they give you energy and help make your immune system stronger.
